Frock-Conscious explores the relationship between textiles and painting through close to 50 works created in the past 5 years. Primarily grounded in Reichek’s signature medium of embroidery, the works also expand spatially to restage the studio as a site of artistic production, domestic life, intergenerational conversation and critical investigation.

Mr. Cartoon's first solo show in his hometown will feature drawings, airbrush paintings, a customized car and a tattoo station by the iconic street / graffiti artist. The exhibition conjures a fantasy world rooted in the emotions and experiences associated with growing up in LA, a love of car culture, graffiti and nostalgia for the music of past eras.

Paintings and works on paper from 1995-1997 by the Mexico-based artist mark a significant time of exploration in his career, when he had just returned to California after living in Mexico City.

Drawing on campy B-movies, stylish Italian Gallo films and pro-wrestling, the film, Red Night, by artist duo Beck + Col, follows a family of friendly monsters who are hunted through their suburban home by a killer. Video portals and clips from the film will be presented at The Art Room, the off-site location of Lauren Powell Projects at 908 South Olive Street. Complementing the film, the main gallery at 5225 Hollywood Boulevard is transformed into the monster's home, with a group exhibition of set pieces, costumes and artworks from the film.
