New abstract quilts aligned with Modernist aesthetics, Japanese minimalism and architecture. Working with fabric, thread and a home sewing machine, Campbell seeks to create paintings, using materials associated with women’s work and the feminist objectives surrounding the reconsideration of those practices. Sculpture by the artist will be also be featured.

Anthony Sonnenberg: Cannons Buried in Flowers

Intended as queer performative objects, Sonnenberg’s recent body of sculptures are clay structures covered with silk flowers, porcelain tchotchkes and textile trimmings. The works are glazed and re-fired with a variety of matte, glassy and lustrous finishes from mauve and chartreuse to frosty blue and rusty pink.

Weekend jaunt to San Diego? This vast exhibition, de la Torre Brothers: Post-Columbian Futurism, imagines a battle between the Aztec gods Coatlicue, who represents Mother Earth, and Mictlantecuhtli, the god of the dead. Transforming the ICA’s Central campus into the site of an epic battle for the future of humankind, the exhibition fuses Mexican, American and Indigenous cultural iconographies.

First opened in 1963, this family-friendly classic soda fountain with formica counters serves up more than burgers and pies. Known for its cheeseburgers and pies by the slice or whole pies to go – other choices include the chili dog, patty melt or chicken pot pie… you get the picture.
Mohawk Bend | Echo Park
Located in a renovated 100-year-old silent movie theater, this Echo Park eatery has a special focus on California craft beer and wine. Seasonal ingredients are featured in a line-up of pizzas, salads and elevated pub food – not to mention burgers – of the grass-fed beef variety as well as Impossible, falafel and more options to meet a range of tastes.

A Hollywood standby (with many more locations), Tommy's is the old school burger joint that launched a thousand burger joints. Numerous styles of burgers, many topped with Tommy's spicy chili.

Thick pub-style burgers are the go-to at Amboy Quality Meats and Delicious Burgers, tucked inside the former Chinatown home of Chego. Meat eaters rejoice. Goldburger is all about the grass-fed smashburgers. Of course there are fries, accompanying sauces – and the grilled cheese sandwich for those who don't partake in meat. How about a slice of chocolate chess cake for dessert? We haven't seen that on a menu for awhile!
