Sheets of linen dyed with indigo, creating imperfect, organic flows of blue against areas of untouched natural fabric. Floating on the wall, the textiles are knotted and twisted with silver leaf, steel wool or other fibrous materials sewn into the surfaces, suggesting ocean and landscape through abstract form.

The four featured artists — Brad Eberhard, Nick McPhail, Chris Miller and Aili Schmeltz – investigate where glaze meets the unintended, echoing Ken Price's mentor, Peter Voulkos and embracing the explosive nature of the kiln, while showing a painterly appreciation for form, color and gesture.

Featuring fifteen of the artist's latest paintings, A Thousand Ships borrows its name from the Natalie Haynes book of the same title, which reimagines Homer’s Iliad from the perspective of the women whose lives were altered by the Trojan War.
